BioEquine began with a search.

I was looking for an equine nutritional formulation that I would actually feel comfortable giving to my own horses. With more than 30 years of experience as a formulating pharmacist and more than 60 years around horses, I wasn't interested in simply buying another supplement because the label looked impressive.

I wanted to know what was in it, why each ingredient was there, and whether the formulation actually made sense.

I looked and I couldn't find one I was satisfied with.

Then I found it.

What happened next was one of the biggest surprises in my career with horses and formulation.

A Formula That Was Decades Ahead

When I studied the formulation, I was genuinely dumbfounded by how far ahead of its time it appeared to be. One of the things that immediately caught my attention was probiotics for horses. Today, probiotics are widely discussed in connection with equine digestive health. But roughly 30 years ago, seeing probiotics incorporated into an equine nutritional supplement was extremely unusual. And this wasn't the only thing that surprised me.

The formulation combined a natural base intended to support the digestive tract and bind unwanted substances with a vitamin and mineral component designed to complement a forage-based diet. It brought together several nutritional concepts that I simply wasn't seeing in other products at the time.

It Started With Horses

My life with horses gave me a very practical reason to keep looking for the right nutritional program. My adult experience was primarily with cutting and reining horses. After seeing the Smart Chic Olenas at the Futurity in Oklahoma City, I imported the first son of Smart Chic Olena into Canada.

His name was Chics In The Male and he went on to become the leading Canadian sire of reining horses. I wanted to contribute to the gene pool in Canada.

Running a breeding operation under the guidance of an exceptional trainer and stallion manager, Mr. Arnie Hein, meant that nutrition, condition and performance were not theoretical subjects. They were part of everyday life.

I wanted something I could trust for my own horses. When I found this formula, I recognized that it was different.

I Didn't Invent It — I Recognized It

My professional background helped me understand what I was seeing. A long ingredient list doesn't necessarily make a good supplement. What matters is why the ingredients are there and how they work together. This formulation had a purpose behind it. It wasn't simply about adding ingredients to fill up a bag. It was a thoughtful approach to supporting the horse nutritionally, particularly alongside a forage-based diet. That was what impressed me most.

That discovery became the foundation for BioEquine. The formula has evolved over the years as ingredients, manufacturing and our understanding of equine nutrition have changed. But the philosophy that attracted me to it in the first place remains at the heart of BioEquine Digestive Support:
